Change register

Who changed, and why

August 2026 observation window

Indiaโ€™s operators

India improved across ARPU, automation, MVNO participation, 5G coverage, and workforce direction.

Why: Scale economics, continued network rollout, digitisation, and a growing ecosystem are moving the market from access expansion toward operating leverage.

Indiaโ€™s regulator and market structure

MVNO share is marked upward while spectrum remains moderate.

Why: Wholesale participation is broadening, but the table does not yet establish whether competition is translating into lower prices or higher realised value.

UK operators

Facilities-based operators moved down after a merger.

Why: Consolidation reduced the count of major network owners; the outcome for consumer competition remains an open question.

Chinaโ€™s operators and state ecosystem

Automation evidence moved to Level 4 and workforce direction moved upward.

Why: State-supported scale and coordinated deployment are producing visible capacity expansion, but comparability with private-market models is limited.

Global operators

Most mature markets show stable ARPU and continued automation progress.

Why: The direction suggests operators are pursuing efficiency and digital operations while revenue growth remains constrained.

Reading the table

This is an evidence view, not a final BlueLay verdict. The latest values show where markets sit; movement markers show what changed after May 2026; the change register records the visible actor and the likely mechanism. Where evidence is incomplete, the question remains open for the next update.
